Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using KU Shoplicity ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Eligibility

The Platform is intended primarily for members of the Kenyatta University community including students, staff, and alumni. Users must be at least 18 years old to register. By registering, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

3. Accounts & Registration

• You must provide accurate information when registering and keep it updated.
• You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account.
• You may not share your account or create multiple accounts.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Listings & Transactions

KU Shoplicity is a peer-to-peer platform. We facilitate connections between buyers and sellers but are not a party to any transaction.

• Sellers are solely responsible for the accuracy of their listings, including descriptions, photos, prices, and condition.
• Buyers should inspect items before completing a transaction. All sales are final unless otherwise agreed between buyer and seller.
• KU Shoplicity does not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or availability of any listed item.
• Transactions and payments are made directly between users — the Platform does not hold or transfer funds.

5. Prohibited Content & Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on the Platform:

• Listing counterfeit, stolen, or illegal goods.
• Listing prescription medications, weapons, alcohol, tobacco, or any controlled substances.
• Fraudulent listings — items misrepresented in description, condition, or photos.
• Harassment, abuse, or threatening behaviour toward other users.
• Spam, scam messages, or phishing attempts.
• Impersonating another user or misrepresenting your identity.
• Using the Platform for any activity that violates Kenyan law or KU regulations.

Violation of these rules may result in immediate account suspension and reporting to the relevant authorities.

6. Payments & Fees

KU Shoplicity is free to use. We do not charge listing fees or commissions. Payments are made directly between buyers and sellers — by cash, mobile money, or any method agreed between them.

We are not responsible for payment disputes, failed transfers, or fraud occurring in direct transactions between users.

7. Liability & Disputes

KU Shoplicity provides the Platform on an "as-is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties and shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from:

• Transactions between users.
• Inaccurate or fraudulent listings.
• Loss of items, money, or data.
• Technical failures or service interruptions.

If you have a dispute with another user, we encourage you to resolve it directly. We may assist at our discretion but are not obligated to mediate.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard settings. Upon termination, your listings and data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify users of significant changes via the Platform.
